I know that it is probably old news for most of you, but looking at the Needle Doctor website this evening, I see that the Grado wood line is featuring a newly designed wood body in the Reference and Statement cartridges. My Sumiko Blackbird is about due for the soup-pot and I'm thinking about replacing it on my Rega P9 with an upscale Grado. Anyone care to share their experience with the "new" wood body Grados on Rega products? I recall that hum was an occasional problem for the old Grados with some Regas.
Thanks,

head over to Vinylengine, you probably will find info specifically on the P9 and Grado.
I'd recommend calling Larry at Hollywood Sound. He carries Rega and Grado. He's always been a great source of info for me, and unfailingly honest.
No affiliation, just a happy customer.
I suspect you are aware of the grade hum table (see Link). Unfortunately the Rega P9 is not listed. I use a Statement on my Thorens and am delighted with the sound from this cartridge. Hopefully someone with your deck and this cartridge will answer.

No, I have not seen this before. Thanks. It looks like the wood body Grados are a bit less prone to hum in general. Whoever compiled the data deserves an honorable in the audio hall of fame.
