I have the latter, and am looking at the former for my LP12/Ittok.
I understand the Adikt is made by Goldring for Linn. Any advantage of it over
the 1042?
Thanks for any info

Hi
I don't know about the sound of the Adikt in comparison with the 1042, though I believe Linn have it made to their specifications (certainly the stylus tip is different).
The generator is the same, but the outer body and mounting are not, of course. This leads me to the one obvious advantage (I speak as a long-time 1042 user); with threaded holes for the bolts, it's going to be much easier to mount and align. This is also true of the Roksan Corus and other derivatives of that Goldring design.

Absolutely none in terms of sonic similarity. Personally I much prefer the Adikt albeit I don't use a Linn arm with it.
Same with their current flagship Kandid ( and I also used to own Akiva ) does not at all sound like any Lyra ( they are made by Scantech which also produce Lyra cartridges ) I have heard either.
If you are happy with your current Goldring, not sure how you feel about switching to Adikt, but certainly it is soooo easy to set up in the Ittok due to 3 screw mounting.
Good to know, thank you.
I'm actually not running the Goldring on the Linn but on another TT.
On the Linn I have a Grace F9E, which to my ears is pretty amazing.
I was just curious about the Adikt since it is Linn and I'm assuming
has good synergy with the arm.
My understanding is the Adikt is also threaded but you need to use the Linn provided bolts as the threads are seated deep in the housing. The Adikt also has two plastic alignment extensions just behind the bolt inserts. These align within the slots of a Linn tonearm. This makes setup and alignment relatively easy (once you have removed the arm form the table so as not to damage the arm bearings). For a non-Linn tonearm you need to use a razorblade or x-acto to remove the plastic extensions to properly position the cartridge. I can't comment on sound to the 1042 but have had the adikt a number of years and feel no urge to move to something else. Obviously it has good synergy with a LP12 deck and Linn arm.
