There is a recording of young Martha Argerich in 1960 that just came out on DG. You can get it on CD and vinyl. Stereophile just reviewed it.
By any chance, did anyone hear this on vinyl? I am trying to figure out which version to buy. Running times seem long: 2 sides on the second LP run at 28:50 and 25:51. I am a bit concerned that this will compromise the sound. It's mono.
I think the vinyl is sourced from 96/24 files, but still I would think it should sound better than the CD, except for the long running times.
Follow Ups:
It's a compilation of mostly unreleased early recordings. It sounds good on vinyl, but I haven't got the CD so can't compare. Not the best piano recording I have heard, but ertainly nothing to make a reasonable person not purchase the vinyl, since the musical perfromances shine through. The performances are -- THRILLING!
Thanks! Very useful.
I don't see any original for it. Do you know what the original DG catalog numbers were?
