I just got Today a Yamaha P 500 Turntable with a Adante H Stylus on it that looks worn.I was thinking of putting a new AT95E on the arm instead? I will be using this with a Yamaha RX 500U Receiver. What are your thoughts on this?Should I just replace the Stylus if it is available or is there a Cartridge that would work better with that Turntable! I like the sound of Audio Technica,& they seem to sound the best when hooked up to my other set up which has a Yamaha CR 620 with a MCS DD Turntable!

The Yamaha is a decent direct-drive table and has good specs. I would suggest a new, modest-price cartridge that would get about all the performance potential it has to give. A dear friend of mine sold tons of these in Washington state into the early 80's.
I just had experience with an Audio Technica AT-95 cartridge. I paid the couple extra bux for the black version from LP Gear and I must say it performs like a champ, after a modest 'break-in" period. 40 bucks, and its a good match to the Yam arm and table.
The Andante cartridge was made by Sumiko apparently, in the late 70's era and for the price of that needle, it might not be worth the experiment unless you just loved it for some particular reason.
Thanks! This is just the information I wa looking for! Will be getting the same Cart in black as well from LP Gear! I also need the damping fluid for the Tone Arm.Where would I find that?Lp Gear? Also the speed seems off is this an easy table to adjust the speed? Thanks again Mr bear & everyone else!
Here's a picture of the Cartridge & Stylus!
you could easily move up the food chain and put a better cartridge on it. Let your wallet be your guide. There was a recent post on a $250 Fluance tt that concluded that 80% of the sound waqs the cartridge.
I was just wondering if anyone else has that table & what Cart they are using! My experience has been that Yamaha Amp's & Receivers seem to like AT Cartridges the best!Or maybe it is just my ears?Again if a Stylus is available should I stay with the Cartridge that is on there?
The AT95E is $39 at LPgear. The stylus in your link is $26 and it is a conical not elliptical.
Get the AT95E!!!

Freak out...Far out...In out....
Thanks! I mostly play vinyl from the 50's & 60's along with a few 70's 80's!The type of music I listen to is mostly The Rat Pack Tony Bennett,Lawrence Welk, etc! Some Country & Bluegrass from the 50's & 60's on up as well!Hope this helps.Does anyone here own a Yamaha P 500 or similar model? What are your thoughts on it? This is the actual Turntable I bought off of the bay! It cleaned up rather well too! Now I just need the hinges for the Dust Cover!
