I recently was given a box of records that I've been through carefully. Some were kept, and some re-homed or traded.
One in particular is very rare so that finding a fair value or a buyer seems more difficult than I might expect. I barter more than sell, so I thought there might be something I'm overlooking.
Thanks

The final price was $411.
I have quite a few RCA Soria records, but I have never seen that one. Is it particularly rare?

The asylum archives are full of posts for "Royal Ballet," with some people stating it is the best recording they have ever heard. The earliest pressings(1S) in near mint condition go for $2000 to $3000. The price for the record I sold has doubled by now.
I like ballet music, but at that price, I don't think I will be listening to it soon. Thanks for the info! Maybe I will find a reprint! I am not going to hold my breath. There is an LSC 6065 and a Classic Records reissue, but nothings going for cheap!Dave

face stiff competition. It is also on HP's list of the greatest recordings.
I've had nothing but good experiences as a buyer and seller on Discogs (currently knocking on wood).
When buying, I carefully vet the seller via feedback. When selling, I limit purchases to buyers with a high feedback rating; if their feedback is below 95%, the system will not allow them to buy from me.
Just bought a record listed as NM and it was horrible. Contacted the buyer and was told they had sold the NM copy and shipped some garbage copy instead. Got my refund. Sad.
I quit eBay years ago over crazy types..
The guy in Detroit who went ballistic when I wrote his LP was far below what he rated it at.
The swearing and threats... wow.
Then the guy in Chicago who had his "Mother in the hospital' excuses. Both for tardy delivery, poor grading and failure to refund in a timely manner.
Every email had the same litany of reasons he could not provide any decent service. I am pretty sure it was a hoax.
A few sellers were polite and sold good records. I just could not take the crap anymore.
I'm not a seller, but I do have one electronica LP that has sold for as much as $272 on ebay according to popsike, and my copy is a still-sealed demo. I found a dealer online who offered me $125 for it, but I didn't think it was worth the trouble. I might take that amount if someone near to me handed me cash and took the LP in person. But I'd want more if I had to go to any trouble, do anything by mail or online, or potentially deal with an unhappy buyer.
Too bad there isn't some simple way to unload it. :-(
Ed.: BTW, this is not a backhanded attempt to offer it here. As I mentioned, I got a reasonable online offer, but decided I didn't want to go that route.

Discogs.com if you don't like Ebay.
jazz LP that was clearly advertised as "no background noise or scratches." The scratch was deep enough to catch a fingernail, and I don't want an expensive stylus passing through it not to mention the tick, tick . . .
Not a good start, but I hope the future is better. I don't buy many LPs on the net thank goodness. However, jazz LPs are really hard to find, so I occasionally use the net for those.
The seller is allowing me to return the record at my shipping expense for the second time.
I've sold more records on eBay than anywhere else. I have more luck in forums where I have more trust in the grading when I'm buying. Still, everywhere you find issues. So often I get very dirty records sold as NM. I don't know how you can tell how to grade a record when it is actually dusty.
Someone previously posted this website, but don't know if it will help in your particular situation.
I've looked at this site before but had forgotten about it. Seems there's a larger market for it over the pond. I've got it graded conservatively, but I'd probably need to lower the price by 15% to match the grade. Maybe I'll keep it.
