Okay, I guess the question is, will it actually ruin the cartridge? It doesn't appear to affect tracking at all and the stylus isn't jumping or anything. Just that scrape from the tail end of the cart.
I mean I guess I'm saying I'm probably going to do this anyway, how bad is it really?

If you can adjust the VTA on the arm you should give that a try.
I considered that but if I alter it to accommodate one warped record wouldn't that ruin things for the rest of my collection?
I'll just get the reissue for now and patiently wait for another copy to materialize.
Discogs has loads of them for cheap. Even a new one.
Well, he strongly implied he prefers a first pressing and those are $200 and up for bad to OK copies, so not dirt cheap.
Not much one can do about that. Although.. if he does ruin the cart, he's about halfway to the cost of a new one.
My experience leads me to believe that many cartridges are way too low in VTA/SRA angle and need to be raised up anyway. It can't hurt to try, right.
By denying scientific principles, one may maintain any paradox.

I doubt it. Give it a try and see how it is with your records!
If you can just skip the first 5 seconds of side A and avoid the issue, why not do that? Also, what John said about the vinyl flattener. It can sometimes take several tries.
if you have a cartridge balance would be worth checking tracking weight.
