Just got a copy of Jazz Surprise with Stan Getz and Anita O'Day. Described as Excellent by cteixeira2012. Unfortunately part of the first track seems to be missing. "record that should play near mint but has a few slight visible marks. The album will have as much" so, be cautious with this seller.
Follow Ups:
Well, they did say it was a "Jazz Surprise". Were they wrong?
And it certainly has some visible marks.
But seriously, this warrants a money back refund, including shipping. If it were me and the seller would not comply, I would report the auction to Ebay and request a refund from them. This has worked twice for me in the past.
And lastly, do us all a favor and use the feedback system to express your 'appreciation' of the seller if he does not do the right thing.

Sorry for the situation, but I am sure you will be covered. You may already know this, but the story behind this album, and its companion, "Jazz Masquerade" (Crown 5009, containing some of the same tracks) is fascinating. The notes on the jacket are of virtually no use, however, everything you need to know (and more) can be found at the link below. Researchers have nailed down most of the performers. There are a lot of greats, including Art Pepper, Charlie Barnet, Benny Carter, Stan Getz, Nat Cole, Louie Bellson, and many more (apparently not Anita O'Day, unfortunately). Hang in there and find another copy. The original issues, which were on the Modern Records label, are very scarce, but the Crown issues can be found. Fun records.

Down below I mention two Coleman Hawkins LPs on Crown. One of them, just called Coleman Hawkins and his orchestra (the other is called "The Hawk Swings") has an open reel counterpart. Well, sorta. There are five tunes on the LP, four on the tape, which the tape and album cover list as follows:
Moodsville
Stalking
Bean in Orbit
Stalking
Yep, "Stalking" is listed twice. But never fear, one of them is actually another tune from the LP, called "Hassle." The fifth tune on the LP, "After Midnight" (no, not J.J. Cale's) is missing altogether.
There's also a tape of "The Hawk Swings," that was on Ebay some months ago. I put a healthy snipe on it and lost it to a deeper-pockets buyer. Maybe next time.
Thanks!
Yeah, a lot of dreck too. But don't sell them short (as they doubtlessly sold their artists). Here are some gems:
* "Little Band, Big Jazz" -- Conte Candoli, Buddy Collette, Vince Guaraldi, Leroy Vinnegar, Stan Levey. The LP is great and the RTR tape is sensational.
* Coleman Hawkins and his "Orchestra" -- Hawkins, Thad Jones, Eddie Costa, George Duvivier, Osie Johnson. There were two of these, same personnel. I have both LPs and one RTR tape.
*The New Swingin' Herman Herd -- Woody Herman and a 1960 band. I have it in mono on LP (with full notes and personnel, unusual for Crown) and in stereo on RTR tape.
* "Bossa Nova" with Buddy Collette, Howard Roberts and others. I have this one on tape only. An unusual bossa nova collection, arranged by Jim Helms, not an"Ipenema" in sight.
I'll check out any Crown I see for sale, knowing that the fidelity will be less than great but the music may well be worth the money. And tape fans should be especially interested.

Don't throw them away!
You should make a wall hanging out of that and title it "Music is MY Crack" or something... :)

Sorry about that, contact the seller or dispute the sale-you will win! But I wonder where did crown license the music from-two great jazz artists?!?!
Regards,
Duane in Clearwater
That record looks to be made of polystyrene or whatever they made a good many 45s from. Is the label printed directly on the record?I have encountered one 10" Lp of that material. I believe it was a Teddy Wilson record.
If he gives you your money back and you get to use 80% of the Anita O'Day / Stan Getz content, I'd say you did OK.

I personally would never pay money for a "Crown" label pressing. They suck.
some really great blues LPs, but mostly you're correct.

Crown Label for the blues. You are correct my friend they have some nice recordings that you will never find anywhere else that said even if someone is not impressed with the sound at least you can hear a long gone blues artist.
You would not know of a site that has listings of cheap labels and some of there sound would you?
Just a shot in the dark

Well, that's a terrible "Jazz Surprise"... I hope you get your money back OK...

If not, it's all on the seller.
No that's why I suspect the seller must have know it was busted or never pulled it fully out of the jacket. No way I'm returning it, it has to go to Portugal and return shipping isn't covered. I'll eat the cost and throw it away.
Up to $45 in return postage up to 8x/year in fact.
I had a bad run on discogs with a few rare 7" singles that were over-graded last month. Paypal covered the entire international $13.50 return shipping cost, all I had to do was scan the receipt from the USPS and file the claim. Refund for my return shipping was in my account within 3 days.

Make a claim. The seller has so many days to reply. If they don't reply Ebay refunds your money.
Done twice for me.
He offered to refund 1/2. I accepted. Better than trying to send it back to Portugal.
Should have gone directly to eBay. I've been on eBay for 17 years. 99 % of the time they or paypal will cover the purchaser,if you have everything documented through the messaging system. As a seller they are not so great. Purchasing overseas is always more difficult, I will only sell ,not buy, return shipping is always a problem, not covered usually, and expensive.Enjoy the music! Cheers,Chet
Seriously. The story isn't over yet. Ebay and paypal err on the side of the buyer. "To ask is not to offend."
