As a celebration for my pending official entry into geezer hood (my 60th B-day on the 31st) my father drove me, along with my brother and oldest sister, to Jerry's Records in Pittsburg. Once into the city, we first we stopped at The Church Brew Works on liberty Avenue for some excellent beer and food. Very interesting brewery as it is actually inside a beautifully restored 1903 church. A couple of the brew kettles are even built upon the alter, where one could literally worship at the alter of the hops.
Next stop was Jerry,s on Murry ave. First impressions were overwhelming. Floor to ceiling records as far I the eye can see(and even in the mens room). Not too badly organized though as it wasn't too hard to zero in on the different types of music I was looking for on this trip. I was also pretty impressed with the quality of the stock and Jerry's very fair prices.
We spent about 1 1/2 hrs. going through the stacks before we had to leave.

in-laws live about an hour away. Rock selection is somewhat picked-over IMO but the classical selection is superb. Not big on jazz but glad to see you did well!

One of our least kept secrets. visitors to Jerry's usually come away broke :-)
Next time, let Olddude55 or me know you're coming, we'll be glad to help you spend your money.
'cause I would have beat you to that Bags & Trane.
I haven't been to Jerry's in weeks, probably won't have a chance to get back until September. Too much other crap going on.
