Hey folks,
I just got advertisement from Elusive Disc about a to be released vinyl from Rebbeca Pidgeaon...The Raven. One of my favorite female albums.
This album was first released by Chesky Records on CD with very high quality sound. My question before I dish out 30 bucks is if anybody knows if this album is all analog or just a digital recording pasted on to vinyl?

Follow Ups:
Some comments from Bob Katz who, I'm guessing, did the original CD release and the 15th anniversary remaster. He implies the original tape is analog.
That doesn't guarantee the provenance of the new reissue though.

I had the CD version. I suppose it was meant to show HOW good recording and mastering can be (for that time period). I didn't find it a remarkable performance at all, artistically speaking, and the digital technology today is probably much better as well. I may have been using inferior playback equipment, though, as I played it repeatedly in my car until I got tired of it.
Hmmmmm.....
Printed on the front cover of "The Raven" 1994 LP is a small "All Analog Recording" "badge" with the Chesky logo. On the back cover above the bar code it states, "Recorded with minimalist miking techniques and without overdubbing or artificial enhancement to ensure the purest and most natural sound possible." It was recorded in three days at MasterSound Studios, Queens, NY. Mastering engineer is Rick Essig at Frankford/Wayne Mastering Labs, Inc. Plated and pressed at RTI.

I had a copy (got stolen with many others) of the Chesky sampler "Women of Song" CD. Rebecca Pidgeon's version of "Spanish Harlem" was amazing, both from a recording and performing viewpoint. I'm going to have to get it on vinyl. Thanks for the heads up. I get kind of bored with Celtic music, but this one cut is worth the price of admission. If it sounded that good on Redbook CD, got to be even better with a good vinyl rig.I looked into info on how it was recorded, and found this thread on the Audio Asylum. This info appeared on an inmate's SACD "Recorded using the 128x oversampling A to D Mark III converter with ultra-analog modules and vacuum tube equipment built by George Kaye". Another inmate posted that on his LP, there was the statement "ALL ANALOG RECORDING" Then another inmate posted that it was probably a split feed recording (simultaneous analog and digital recordings). I've included a link to the thread. Pretty sure Chesky would use the all analogue version, but you'd think they'd include recording info in the pitch for the pre-order.
Edit: On second thought, the Sampler was 24/96, and I had a modded DVD player at the time.

6mths? One year? Sure, I can wait.
I've got 3 copies, 2 are still sealed.
The problem is getting all the songs compressed into only 2 sides.
This album merits 2-disc treatment.
digital original or not, it will sound better than the cd because you will hear the sound of whatever comes off the master without being dumbed down to 16bit/44.1k Hz sampling. even if it is digital, that studio recorder will sound better than any converter you may own.
...regards...tr
It was actually first released on vinyl by Chesky as well as CD. I never actually checked to see if it was a digital rec ording or not
I like the album. "Spanish Harlem" was on one of those "Is your system awesome?" CDs that showed soundstage, depth, the difference between compression and no compression etc. I liked it so much I went and bought "The Raven."
I have the original lp I bought in the 90's look for it on ebay very rare and its 100% analog!!!!By the way its sounds great!
