Music is incredible...
Follow Ups:
Very nice lineup - Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, Thad Jones... impressive! I found a few interesting albums along the same vein last weekend in in foothills of North Carolina of all places. I stop by the thrift whenever I pass by but most often, all I find is Jimmy Swaggart, Conway Twitty and the like. Occasionally, I run into something interesting and totally out of character for that store/area and Sunday was one of those occasions.I wasn't even sure the store was open on Sundays so I all but talked myself out of taking the exit. There weren't more than 150 records in the bin so expectations were low as I flipped through the first 10 or so (Swaggart, Dolly, Perry...) but then, I came upon Pepper Adam's '10 to 4 at the 5 Spot' (Riverside) and knew my visit was not in vain. I ended up pulling about 60 records, mostly jazz and including several Blue Note titles and all were in excellent condition - no scuffs or catches and some were still sealed or in cellophane and some looked unplayed. About half of them were promos or DJ copies so I figured this batch came from a collector or someone who worked at a radio station who didn't listen to jazz or eclectic music.
I don't know how to post pics but some of the more eclectic titles included John Barbarian and the Mid-Eastern Ensemble's 'Middle Eastern Rock' (DJ copy), Shelly Manne's 'My Son the Jazz Drummer! modern jazz versions of favorite Jewish and Israeli songs', 'Moe Koffman - goes Electric' and Meher Baba's 'Happy Birthday' and 'One Real Friend'.
Anyway, very good pickup Fishy, nice finds all around - just thought I'd share a few as well.

Hi Fishy,
That does seem to be an incredible find. If I found it in the bins where I buy records, it definitely would call out to me.
Phil
I get lucky some times..
