I bought a Nottingham 294 in part because of the design of the motor. It is so weak that the platter muct be started rotating with a hand push. I thought that, therefore, it would be too weak to respond to current fluctuations and cogging by the motor. Well, it's a really good table and I enjoyed it. Then I ran onto a guy who had a Nottingham motor controller(on the vinyl asylum) at an irresistible price so I bought it. Good Grief! My table took a quantum leap in sound reproduction.. Now I dont wish for more. With an Ortofon Cadenza Black I'm set . The controller made the difference.

That was exactly my experience when I added a Walker Precision Motor Controller to my Nottingham Hyperspace. Up until that moment of truth, I was very skeptical about the possible benefits of a motor controller. However, it improved the sound from the Hyperspace in just about every way one could imagine.
...the Walker controller makes as big an improvement over the Nott' Wave Mechanic as the Wave Mechanic does over no controller at all.
I have an Ace Space, and added the Wave Mechanic not too long after I bought the 'table. I found just as Jack has that it made a huge improvement. The significance of the improvement made no logical sense, but that happens lot in this hobby.
Then one day I was talking to Lloyd on the phone about purchasing a totally unrelated product. He had to start the "suggestive sell" routine, and the next thing I knew the Precision landed in my room. As I've yet to buy a Walker product that disappointed, I was expecting an improvement. But I wasn't expecting THAT big an improvement, especially when I was already using a pretty decent motor controller with the Wave. Go figure. Sadly, the Precision went to a new home a number of years ago when I dismantled everything. But I kept the Wave (and the 'Space) and am enjoying them both a lot right now. I'd love to have another Precision at some point, but right now there are other areas of the system more in need of those dollars.
The Hyperspace is long gone; I'm an idler/direct-drive convert.
similar here, had ace space, heavy platter added vpi sds, wow. for another wow, plugged the cd player into the sds.

Had the very same experience here. Was reviewing Space Deck, and tried with
Wave Mechanic and the PMC. Night and day difference, in favor of Walker's device.
Don't believe everything you think.
