Tjader must have had a thing for Red Vinyl.

Actually, I think the Fantasy record label had a thing for it.Got a Brubeck in red. This is an RSD re-issue, but still ...... I do remember seeing some Brubecks in red back in the day.
They did blue vinyl as well. Will post a pic when I get.

I have both colors on Fantasy LPs. The colored vinyl wasn't limited to Cal Tjader. Fantasy also recorded some classical titles. These were on colored vinyl too.
Do you happen to recall any of the classical titles?

Here are the classical titles I'm aware of: *indicates stereo disc, **stereo tape, the rest are mono only; the stereo tape titles were only issued on mono LPs
5001** Hindemith Concertos
5002** Skalkottas Twelve Greek Dances
5003 * Bartok Rhapsodies, Deux Portraits
5005 * Flamenco
5006 * Roland De Lassus Sacred and Secular Works
5007 * Chopin Fur Ballades, Fantasie

5009 Composers Forum
5010 Composers Forum
5011 * Tomas Luis de Victoria
9001** Dance Gypsy Dance
I have the stereo tapes and the Bartok stereo disc on blue vinyl. The LPs were called Vista Stereo Recordings.
That is amazing information. Thanks.

It is a direct to disk album titled Hurracan, on the Crystal Clear label. Recorded March 22 an d 23 1978 at Wally Heider's in Hollywood. And it runs at 45rpm.
I picked it up in a bargain bin is a used record store somewhere...probably Albuquerque.
I'm not a huge fan, so I could probably be talked out of it...
I have it on CD. May have had it on LP.
It's still available on the web.
Email me with a price and we'll see.
Thanks.
