...I am glad that it works. A while back, I took a chance on an SL-B2 for $15US in a backwoods thrift; it turned out to be an excellent buy. Sometimes one gets lucky!

Cheers!
at some point though (when we were arranging to meet) he said 'I have two - I think they're the same model but I'll take both so you can pick one. Same price.'
The D3 was actually slightly more expensive *and* missing a counterweight, which I had a spare of. It was in good shape but filthy beyond belief (the 1200 is even worse though - it looks as if they'd used it to plow a field!) And it was already a good deal at that price.
But then the guy pulled the tarp from over the other turntable.. good thing I'm good at keeping my cool, or at least my poker face. I checked it out and when I saw the loose arm I told him it was broken (well, it was!) and that overall it just didn't look great (it didn't). Then I made him a lower offer and he accepted.. and that's how I ended up with an SL-1200 for 25 euro O.o
Today I started taking it apart - I plan on cleaning every tiny little part. I've already done a couple - gave the platter a nice deep wash and other parts which looked like they might hold water inside if they got wet just got a deep, thorough cleaning with brushes of various sizes. I'm noting where each screw was removed from so I can put it back together.
You can see that it's had a rough life after cleaning it, but it's not a complete wreck. I think it'll turn out OK.
