No, it is not a tangential tracking tonearm. It is a normal pivotal tonearm with respect to alignment, but it has an electromagnetic servo damping mechanism in the counterweight to actively damp the tonearm resonance. It is a less expensive version of the DP-62L that I owned back in the early 1980s.

John is right. I stand corrected. Whatever kind of arm it is, it gets the job done. :)
There -was- a tangential tracking tonearm from that approximate era, and mfr in Japan, that did sort of present that visual profile from some angles, I guess.
A lazy remark by me to suggest it without researching it. And a ruthless correction by Mr. Elison.
