Just wondering if anyone is familiar with this step up transformer. Especially interested in where it stands against T-3000 whom I rate very high. Actually T-5000 and higher (like T-7500), are they better than T-3000 or just differently tuned to match different pickups.

Stepup po.wer as it was designed for loew output cartridve..
for most cartridges a o e .2 mv. ...I would go with t5000.
I don't have any direct experience with the Ortofon T-5000 or T-3000 step-up transformers, but my guess is that they are both top-of-the-line step-up transformers simply designed for their respective cartridges. For example, the MC-5000 has a rated output of 0.14-mV where as the MC-3000 has a rated output of 0.10-mV. On the other hand, the MC-3000 Mk2 has a rated output of 0.125-mV.
I owned the original Ortofon MC-2000 with its matching T-2000 step-up transformer, which had a massive mu-metal enclosure and was made with silver wire. It's step-up turns-ratio was 1:56 (35-dB) because the MC-2000 had a rated output of only 0.050-mV or 50-uV. Therefore, I imagine the T-5000 and T-3000 step-up transformers are of similar high quality but designed with turns-ratios to match the MC-5000 and MC-3000 cartridges respectively.
