Hey everyoneI'm hoping somebody can help me out here. I have an Audio research PH3 phono preamp that I'm trying to match with my Dynavector 20xM (VPI 1 mv version) cartridge. Specifically I need some help on loading.
According to the supplied specs the Recommended Load is: "Great Than 1,000ohms"
Any tips on recommended values to try? I'm such a novice that having any tips as far as where to purchase these resistors would also help (apparently Radio Shack is a no no).
The ARC service guy is unavailable right now.
I actually did this before (when i lived in Boston my repair guy loaded it down to 1000ohms but the sound ended up being a bit too dull). I removed the resistors and went back to 47k not knowing I could pick a value between the two.
Thanks in advance!

So ... the BIG question. Does anybody here know how to get these load settings on the PH3? I assume using a 1/4W 1K Carbon Film resistor isn't going to give me a 1K load. Could it be that easy?
Apologies in advance for not knowing the math, I blame my Music School education haha.
From the manual fwiw:
Nothing wrong with RS 1/4 watt 1% film resistors., IMO.
Too much is never enough
It will probably take some trial and error. Try 1000, 2000, 5000 and 10,000-ohms. Pick the resistance that sounds best.
Good luck,
John Elison
Thanks so much, John!
