You might want to switch to Stylast. I've been using Stylast for 30-years without a single problem. It keeps my styli pristinely clean. I apply only Stylast Preservative before each and every record side while brushing my stylus afterward with the included stiff bristle brush. I've never had a problem of any kind. Moreover, I find it completely unnecessary to use Last Stylus Cleaner when using Stylast Preservative religiously as described.
Good luck,

as opposed to #4, the "cleaner"?
agreed about the Stylast preservative. the act of applying it more than adequately kept the stylus clean.
BUT the very best method of cleaning the stylus, for me, is the Magic Eraser. i examined my stylus with a handheld 40x 'scope prior to cleaning it, then used my then current method-some alcohol in a spot on a Discwasher SC2 brush.
before cleaning, the expected detritus was seen, after, the diamond was much cleaner, but after the ME treatment, the diamond was like new and SO crystalline in appearance! needles to say, the only way i clean styli now is with the ME.

Welllll, I've managed to use almost a WHOLE bottle of LP#9. Amazing how those 7 years flew by. In that time the price has risen to like $30US! I also have become an old fart who says stuff like "I am NOT paying 30 dollahs for 25 cents worth of product in a fancy bottle!"
If you find the Magic Eraser safe and relative convenient, it must be OK. Could I ask you to list the step-by-step on how you use the Eraser?
I am concerned at the possibility of scraping off the diamond from my lovely ADC XLM-II. I've tried that already anyway- a few year ago our housekeeper dusted my turntable including removing the entire cantilever from a Dynavector XX- owch!

I've used the ME for a couple of years with no problems I'm aware of.
1. I cut a cube from the original sheet.
2. Place the cube next to the platter (stationary), not on it.
3. Position stylus directly over the ME.
4. Use arm lift to lower and raise stylus directly into the ME, repeat 4-6 times.
5. Brush off stylus/cantilever to be sure no fibers remain.
I don't do this for every record, but maybe for every other listening session. That is unless it is an extended session of half dozen sides or more. Yesterday when I did this procedure I noticed a small black dot on the ME where the stylus made contact. I've seen that before and assume it is "junk" cleaned from the stylus. When I see that I then move the ME slightly to a clean area before further contact.
Now however reading Dave Pogue's reply makes me wonder, should I follow up the ME with a liquid cleaner to remove disrupted "junk" before heat bakes it on? Maybe not every ME application but at least say once a week?

Cut a thin, small square of ME and place it on your platter.
Using the tonearm cue to lower the stylus into the ME and lift it out.
Repeat several times.

Definitely do not rub with the magic eraser. That's a sure fire way to snag the cantilever.

What it appears to do is drive the gunk up onto the stylus. I sent my Soundsmith Zephyr to Peter Ledermann for "evaluation" and he found a lot of it "welded" to the diamond where it attaches to the cantilever. Surprised the heck out of me as I had been using the Magic Eraser in exactly this way and recommended it for a long time. It may work in conjunction with other stylus-cleaning methods but I'm no longer a fan.
Fwiw, Peter recommends building a mound out of Fun-tak/Blu-Tack and dipping the stylus repeatedly into that, while also cleaning the stylus (back to front, of course) with a small brush that's relatively stiff.
..., before I drop the needle onto a record. A blast of air also works to remove any Magic Eraser powder residue.
I also use pieces of magic eraser but, yesterday my Moongel Damper pads arrived. I'll be using them for a bit to see how they work. Unlike the Onzow but like the Magic Eraser, the price is right-6 pads for $7.00. I also have a stylus brush and liquid cleaner (which I seldom use).
