Is the table closer to the left speaker? I've found most bass tracks to be equal in both channels. Do you have a mono recording you could test with?
I would try switching phono input to phono section to see if pumping moves, and then switching speaker connections at the amp.
I would also try more antiskating. And then less anti-skating if that didn't work.

Acoustic feedback from a TT is like microphone feedback in terms of proximity as you found out. The more isolation the better. Glad it's better.

My turntable and my tube phono pre was closer to the left side. I centered them and problem solved. I have a Technics SP-25 in a heavy plinth with a heavy dust cover. I thought that would be enough, I guess not. Thanks for the thoughtful suggestion.....
