I've a cheapo French reissue in stereo and it sounds surprisingly good. Excellent early stereo recording. Laid back perspective but true tonal colours, decent resolution and very little distortion. Low self noise and exceptional clarity for the vintage. Only drawback is lack of low frequency content and a slight muting of dynamics due to the entire set squeezed into 1 LP. So I presume OP's pressing spread out in 2 LPs would sound fantastic.
Follow Ups:
Yes. The two record set in the op photos put symphony No. 9 on 3 record sides and the two overtures on the 4th side.
SQ is better than any DG recordings I have. (tulips or no) Although that isn't saying a lot. Pretty good. Maybe not up to the best Decca standards but definitely worth the listen. Low frequency notes have some weight. comparable to my other classical records. Good clarity and a sense of the recording space... Although I can't say I had any visions of LVB waving his wand over this one. Laid back? yes. Relaxed perhaps. Blame it on the conductor, I'd guess.
Its records are skinny vinyl. The label and light vinyl I'd date to around late seventies early eighties. The gatefold notes and fold-out are in French language so I can't read a word.
Anyway it is nice to find a Klemperer recording on something other than Angel over here.
