I saw a video from a show where the son was introducing his "first design" the VPI Prime(he said it was the first one he worked on from start to finish) which if I'm correct, means the control is shifting over to the next generation. Hearing that nothing is changing is so nice this day and age.
I also think the Prime is going to be my first VPI product.
Follow Ups:
one area that they really shine in is service and upgrades for their older products. the upgrade paths are nearly endless.
harry w. is still very involved in the process but not in the day to day of vpi. he is working on his own projects at "harry's workshop", a separate entity to keep him busy in his retirement. they have a facebook page for those interested.
Tom Collins
I live not too far from Harry, so when I found out about his mad scientist Harry's Workshop venture I contacted him and we talked about what he was working on. I think I got the second, maybe third official offering from the workshop - a Classic 3 with 3D arm, 300 RPM motor, HR-X feet and clamp, periphery ring, and SDS. It was cobbled together from some bits and pieces he had lying around :-). I couldn't be happier with the result.
The impression I got is that there's no prediction of what the next thing is HW will offer. Seems to depend on what strikes him and what materials he may decide to work with. Kind of exciting, and let me add he was a really kind fellow to work with. A gentleman.
