Gawdawful. I've enjoyed the Santana "1968"' and Clapton/BB King "Riding with the King". However, the new Don Henley "Cass County" is terrible. The songs are slow, boring and a poor attempt at infusing a country sound. Then there's the actual manufacture, it's horrible, serious skips, and defects in the lead out on album one. Just crap all the way around. You've been warned. For those of you who understand, Mojo Nixon was right.

I'm not sure if there are separate European and U.S. pressings for this title. The European issue has the original U.S. mastering on the run out groove, which is a nice bonus. It seems to be an MPO pressing from France. My copy plays quietly and without problems. I wouldn't be surprised though if there is just one pressing for the U.S.A. and Europe. Notwithstanding your take on the music, it seems that you got a bad copy? Most people in the U.S.A. (over on the Hoffman Forum at least) who bought this LP seem to be very happy. Try and exchange it for a better copy.

Haven't had a chance to check out that video yet but I did see this on the Mojo Nixon wikipedia page:
...Nixon recorded a solo album on Enigma called Otis. On this album Nixon continued his assault on pop culture, most notably in the song "Don Henley Must Die." Several years after its release, Henley jumped onstage with Nixon at The Hole in the Wall in Austin, Texas, to perform a new version of the song called "Rick Astley Must Die." When Henley jumped out of the crowd, the dumbfounded Nixon immediately asked, "Is Debbie Gibson here too?" Nixon later praised Henley in this way: "He has balls the size of church bells!"

Run your finger over the info stamper in the lead-out. Mine felt like the Himalayas. The stampers aren't supposed to be raised to the point of cartridge interference.

I played the first record. It is warped but plays dead quiet. I like the music and the guest vocalists. It works for me.
