Hello inmates. I'm trying to resurrect this for a friend. It seems the changer mechanism operation is largely determined by platter rotation. There is insufficient idler wheel grip to power through the changing cycle. I've cleaned, lubed the deck as well as roughing up the edges of the idler and platter to no avail. Any tips? Thanks in advance.

I wish I had a pic of the interior of the Garrard. The only changer I ever worked on was a Dual 1229.

There are several places that rebuild idler wheels like that. I've had very good experiences with thevoiceofmusic dot com. They usually have rebuilt ones on hand so that they can be exchanged. When you order there will be a request for the return of your old one. When they receive it they ship the new/reman one. The whole thing takes about a week.
Kind regards.
