Hi all -
Looks like the Okki Nokki record cleaning machine is available online for $449. Has anyone found it cheaper? if so, where?
Thanks for your help

$449.00 is a good price if they finally have decent quality control on their products. I bought one from an out of state dealer several years ago, when May Audio Marketing was distributing them. First one lasted about nine months and about 100 cleanings before it died. May Audio Marketing sent me a second one that was almost DOA, it ran for a few minutes then stopped. May then sent me a third one and picked up the return postage on #2. The third one actually had a couple of small design improvements, like correcting the undersize spindle posts on previous ones and a nicer platter. It ran for a couple of weeks, then it started a squeak, squeak, squeak, noise. I fixed that myself by removing the platter and post assembly and putting a thin plastic washer under the post to reduce the squeak and friction between post and baseplate. The 3rd unit was hand picked and tested from remaining stock by the rep I was dealing with. He told me the QC issues were the reason that May was discontinuing sales of the OKKI NOKKI Machines.
Having said all that, I still like my OKKI NOKKI. The vac seems to be quieter and more powerful than the VPI 16.5, and I like the forward/reverse direction switch. One gripe I have is the transformer is constant on and humming when the unit was plugged in regardless if the unit was running or not; but, I cure that by pulling the IEC power plug from the back of the unit at the end of every cleaning session.
Buy one from a dealer who will willingly take it back, if Okki Nokki still doesn't have their QC issues resolved.
I've never had any failure with mine now for close to three years. I also like the dual direction capability.
The transformer hum is real. I keep the cord pulled from mine as well when not in use.
That's a great price. I paid $600 for mine when a lot of dealers were closing them out due to the loss of distributorship at the time.
The first one I had had some real issues; lack of suction and noisy as hell, so I returned it. Six months later I decided to try another, and the one I bought from ListenUp in Colorado has worked very well for a couple of years now.
See ya. Dave
Surely they'll know who all is selling them.Make some phone calls and strike up your best deal.
