Received my copy yesterday. 5 stars for sound quality, vinyl pressing quality and packaging. Over the years I've owned 4 copies of the original but it has been too long since I heard any of them to do a meaningful comparison. People were always willing to offer my what I considered stupid money or each copy so they are long gone. I paid less for this than I did any of the originals. This is a winner.

Follow Ups:
Just for interest, the album is also being released this month as a hybrid SACD. I don't know if it is the same remix as the new vinyl version.
I have had Hitchhiking and Radio Kaos on vinyl for quite a while, but I had to resort to buying ATD on CD last year, after many years of failing to find the LP in my usual haunts.

... I thought that was the one with the hitch hiking hottie on the cover?
No, that's "The Pros and Cons of Hitchiking". Also a good one.
See ya. Dave
First of all, YES it IS a remix done by James Guthrie, as directed by RW himself.
I am totally surprised at the dynamic swings on this record, as well as just how much bottom end it has; the Genie's voice in the song "Three Wishes" has some serious subwoofer-moving bottom, as does the flyover/bomb drop/instant deafness sound effect.
The sound field (even just the "regular" band mix) is almost enveloping. The Q-Sound effects are there in all their glory. I always found that the band mix (especially drums) on the CD version to sound rather lack-luster. This new mix gives the drums some serious shudder and crack.
Interesting to note- Water's voice on most tracks is front and center, seeming to be up close and very dry while the band, like I said, has various image and Q-sound manipulations. The instant thought I had when hearing this for the first time was that the perspective was that of a TV announcer or sportscaster. Interesting perspective, consider the subject matter. Wonder if that was intentional?
And the dog barking, and the TV voices. Gotta love Q-Sound!
This one is a winner to me!

Dman...glad you are enjoying this one and appreciate it as I did
I picked up a copy yesterday at the California Audio Show. They let me open it to make sure it wasn't the picture disc and to look at condition. To my surprise the first LP had a hairline scratch on each side. They didn't have another copy, but did tell me return would be fine if audible.
Brought it home and played it without cleaning it on my Okki Nokki, letting my Shibata clean the grooves; something I rarely do. The beginning of side one had a low bit of noise starting off, but not any clicking. Side two issue was inaudible. One cleaning and all will be fine I'm sure. Though in my one-off case, I can't vote strongly for quality control.
I've been waiting for this to rerelease for a long time, and the wait was worth it. Much smoother presentation than the CD, and I didn't pickup on any major remastering changes on first run through. All of the Q-Sound effects were where I expected, having listened to the CD the day before as a refresher. I suspect I'll listen closer for the fun of it when a day comes with nothing else to do.
All in all, I'm pleased with the LP. While it's not everyone cup of tea, I've always enjoyed the music.
See ya. Dave
I agree on the quality of the pressing but was somewhat perturbed that this was not only a remastering / repressing, but also a remix! There are some significant musical differences on the new pressing.Either way, I'm glad it was finally released because I didn't want to spend hundreds of pesos on an original.

Yes, remixed and there is also some new material that I don't remember on the original cd
Alan
I have the CD....interesting sound manipulations.....pretty boring music
If one doesn't care for the music save the $$$.
