1. Remove the dust cover when playing records. Others have pointed this out but haven't explained that this is better for the sound. The plinth defines in part the frequency at which the suspension isolates the platter and adding the dust cover changes this. The same goes for the surface upon which the turntable is placed which is why Linn always recommended a light table and later produced the trampolinn base to try to deal with this.
2. As for the RCA cable this connects to the arm and you haven't told us what arm you have on the turntable. So until you do the question cannot be answered.

I have the Ittok version 2.
I don't know of anyone who has used a cable other than the orignal Linn one. The arm has a form of DIN connector but I do not know if standard right angle ones fit. My memory says no but I could be wrong and other inmates may help on this. Otherwise your choice is limited to a straight replacement should the one you have be damaged.
I don't knonw if you are familiar with how the turntable and arm need to be set up with regard to the suspension and how the arm cable has to be rigged to correctly exit the plinth without mechanically short circuiting it. If not then I would advise going to Vinyl Engine and downloading the manuals that you will find there.
and it certainly fits but required some serious redressing of the arm to get the bounce correct.

Yea, Linn want's you to keep the cover on so you wear out there shitty hinges & you have to buy new hinges, $$$$. Sneaky Bastards !
If the hinges on a TT can't hold up, well, --- ?
If you take the cover off when playing records (as advised) then the hinges' springs are never used as they lift out vertically with the cover from the part fixed to the plinth. I had an LP12 for 25 years with no problems in this respect at all. These days most turntable manufacturuers get around any potential problem by either not supplying a dust cover at all or making one that is just a cover to be placed over the table when not in use (no hinges).
I doubt that Linn consider themselves as hinge suppliers and would not expect replacement hinges to be a profit centre. They have lots of opportunities to be sneaky elsewhere :-)
