Complete 'record player'...built-in 15 watt amp, speakers, and AT cart, and comes in maple or walnut. $449.
Interesting looks. Definitely a conversation piece.

Seems like hipster junk to me. I'm guessing there are quite a few tables in that price range that would have a more satisfying sound.

See post for the Toc vertical record player below. That one's even more minimal (though it has no amp or speakers).

Also don't forget that Seeburg used vertical play in their Jukeboxes
from 1948 till the end of their vinyl jukeboxes, around 1983 and Wurlitzer
used a vertical play from 1955 thru 1968, all with pivoting arms.
"Since our tonearm is perfectly balanced radially around its main pivot bearing axis, it does not skew or favor one groove side over the other. Typically, the modulations in the groove can cause friction and this contributes to centripetal force acting on the arm and causing it to skate towards the center of the record. Our rigorous testing ensured no performance issues."
Okay, it's unclear to me whether they understand skating force or not and I don't mind that they left anti-skate off for this kind of player. But, it is an overhung design so it has skating force. End of story.
I think they missed the boat on more than just skating force, but I totally agree with your assessment.
I found it interesting they used a stepper motor. Good speed control (of the motor at least, the platter, wwwweeeellll....), but much more cogging and vibration than an AC synch motor.
They haven't published any specs on W&F, speed accuracy, distortion, rumble etc. Wonder if they even know about these?
Of course at $450 retail and the look of this thing, I don't think their target market was audiophiles; more like clueless millenials who care more about aesthetics than about sound quality.
And no mention of the vertical tables from Technics, Mitsubishi, Sharp....But it is pretty.
(oh snap.. Ion has a vertical player now too! Crosley missed the boat on this trend.)

Reminds me of the juke boxes I used to put quarters in as a kid. :~)

Namely gravity, friction with the spindle, the motor's force. Newton would love it and laugh at it! No way that can work properly...but what a kickstarter scam! I need a piece of that!
Why? What advantage does it have? Nice novelty, though!
I've managed to jack-up my share of records due to mishaps using a horizontal player. I shudder to think how many MORE I'dve f'd up using some thing like that. Fools and money are soon parted I guess ...
MY first comment was the same: "Why?"
Seems like a mirror over your turntable at a 45 degree angle would require a lot less engineering :)
I like it... think we can get kickstarter funding for it?
