Still enjoying it tremendously, and it's even better now than when I first got it.The secret it seems is how the records are dried after washing......
It totally transformed how insipid, and limp some record used to sound before to how fantastic they really can sound now.
The other issue I discovered right from the beginning is: the servo control of this machine has a "memory"All I need was figured out how to "erase" it's memory prior to playing every discs
The resultant changes in soundstage and imaging, dynamic impact, and clarity makes even casual listeners sit up and take notice straight away.
When I first decided to purchase this machine, I made a special trip to visit Chiba san at his factory to listen to it.
I needed to verify something that I anticipated would be an issue with this player, which also afflict every god damned CD/SACD players, since it uses a servo control system, very much like an optical disc player.
True enough, during the listening, it was very audible, how playback memory would affect sound reproduction of this machine.
I remember their marketing manager was sitting beside me as I asked him, step by step, how the player behaves from powering up to inserting a disc to selecting proper speed to playing the disc, to shutting down the noise filter function.
Once I figured out how it all work, I proceeded to show the marketing guy and Chiba san how to erase playback memory.
Both of them were surprised how great was the sonic difference would be once playback memory was erased. After I placed an order, it took four months for the machine to be delivered to me.
And after I have had more experience with it, I discovered other "issues", but, once eradicated, makes the player sound even better than how I heard it at the factory.I am very very happy with the ELP, that I can not contemplate playing my vinyl records at home with a needle based player anymore.
I still play records everyday in the office with different classes of needle based turntable because of my work.
But at home, it's strictly the ELP.

Can you provide the theory as to how and why a servo controlled system has a "memory"?
