You can find the headshell part for about $11, or less if you buy in bulk from Chinese sellers. I have 5 of them, send me a private message if you want one. The female part that fits in the arm tube is much more expensive, the last one I bought cost me about $35. I see them now and again on Ebay for a lot more than that. There is a Canadian seller who sells parts on Canuck Audio Mart, his moniker is VintageHiFi, send him a message through that forum and ask if might have one for sale.

those are both pretty pricey :)...
and the Rega one is ugly on top of it. the one for a lot of 50 male connectors is fine, i just have to think about needing that many for a first try. I was hoping to get the pair under 20 bucks. over 20 bucks it start making sense thinking about making them....

Finding a female connector, for cheap, has always been an issue. Cheap ones don't exist, although I have salvaged one from a tonearm off of a broken turntable found in a thrift shop.
If you find a cheap source, let us know!

but, 40 bucks is not a good price for a not very structural piece of a tone arm. Say you want to make a replaceable head shell arm for 400 bucks (end user). that means that you have to be able to produce it for under a 100 bucks in parts and labor to make it feasible. if the head shell connector eats up almost half of that it is a no go. So people like Jelco either make their own or have a source who makes it for under 10 bucks.
