Now **that** is ridiculous. You could hire a driver to personally deliver it anywhere in the continental USA for less.

Do what?
insuring something that is 89k for shipment I'm sure is adding to that figure.
it says in the ad it is shipped from overseas and includes the stand too.E

It's a ridiculous price for shipping
No the car thing doesn't work. The 3 piece TT and stand and the crates to ship them easily weigh 500 pounds. $2K is in line and we don't know the source country overseas. The TT is NOT in the USA

....as in on an ocean going ship. Appropriate for automobiles, maybe not so much for 2nd hand audio gear. Imagine a crew of uncouth sailors on the freighter with the big "Maersk" logo on its bow handling your crates filled with $90K of merchandise and they don't have a clue, or care, what it is.Try shipping a car via FedEx air.
On land shipping can mean hiring a trucking company to move your gear from one place to another. Depending on the size and weight of the gear it may be a better choice than going with FedEx or UPS. But which trucking company to trust!

Having "shipped" delicate equipment overseas I can tell you first hand that cargo is treated with far more care on the ships than they are on the airplanes. What you lose is time. no one handles cargo in a more Neanderthal way than the folks who work for the airlines. I have also sent large and delicate gear by plane over seas. The 2,000 dollars is ridiculous.
Is the item location. But the shipping cost quoted is for worldwide. Maybe the ad has been amended since you posted as shipping now reads $3K.
There will be more than one wood crate to hold and protect this expensive assembly of gear. Several hundred pounds of crated gear to be air-freighted around the globe.

but then I realized all the work that needs to go into shipping this thing. 2K is still a tiny bit steep, but not insane. For 2K I would fly out there myself and listen to it before taking it home.
fly out where? The ad doesn't say where it is it just says overseas. It is not at the dealer in Florida.

Yes, but it'll cost $$$ to fly it home with you as the airline are unlikely to accept several large wooden crates as hand baggage.
