I'll be interested to hear what you think of the ART7. It has a very low rated output of only 0.12-mV. That is a bit low for your Rotel phono stage, which has only 57-dB gain. You really need 10-dB more gain for the ART7. Is there some reason you decided to buy the ART7 instead of the higher output ART9? Anyway, I'm curious to hear how you like it.
Best regards,

You're probably right, it would have been more sensible to go with the ART9. There were some positive remarks from users on different sites about the ART7, but little info on the 9.
I do have to turn it up a couple of extra ticks on the volume knob. Listening to the 1st album side now. So far, it sounds beautiful right out of the box with out any fine tuning.
I believe the ART7 is the better cartridge because of its non-permeable coil formers, but it requires more amplification due to its ultra low output. As long as the noise floor remains low enough, it really doesn't matter that you have to turn up the volume.
Good luck,
John Elison
