I have this - friend - (who incidentally is extremely intelligent, and good-looking as well) who, through no fault of his own, had one of the cartridge clips (that'd be the blue 'un) on his Rega RB808 tonearm (on his RP8 table) BREAK! As in the damn thing broke right in half. Ouch!
He is, as I said, very smart and skilled, yet lacks that tiny last bit of confidence in his precision, temperate-controlled soldering skills.
Given that a repair is necessary, he's wondering if he should go whole-hog and rewire the thing. Is it worth it on the 808? Either for performance or to prevent more of these %#!^&$!^ weak-ass clips from breaking in the future. What wiring kit?
He says thanks in advance.

That is one of the reasons i'm more into Japanese arms with removable headshells. So much easier to work with.

I'm usually a pretty ham-fisted solderer, but I successfully repaired a broken Rega clip on my P25.
Just take your time and use the tiniest bit of solder. I actually did the job with the solder that was already on the clip and did not have to add any of my own.

Thanks, but I think my friend is going to go for the Incognito kit. Only $200 and nary a chance of failure!
I rewired my rega RB300 using female pins from a computer's joystick port. You find them on old "Soundblaster" style soundcards. Serial connectors works too, but VGA are too thin.My technique is as follows: Unsolder the connector from the PC board using a quick heat with some propane torch; remove the metal surrounding the "D"-shaped platic; desolder the attached wires if any and voilą, 15 sturdy gold-plated pins that solder extremely well, and grip with spring action. When you see thir build quality you'll probably end changing all the stock leads and never buy crappy phono leads again.
I also built some standalone leads for detachable headshells, using those clips and mil-spec silver-plated wire. Try to buy something like that!
Have fun!

Get the Incognito kit or have Brit Audio install it.
Rega is terrible, they don't install shrink tubing to strengthen those clips.
I agree - they are terrible. My friend has great respect for Rega's engineers yet wants to extract SWEET SWEET REVENGE FOR THOSE DAMN WEAK CARTRIDGE CLIPS DAMN THEM ALL.
Thanks.
do the clip, the whole rewire is more painful and the back end is soldered to the interconnects (300 arm at least) I imagine this arm too
