I suspect this is a lost cause(except for custom work by someone like Soundsmith?) but I have an Audio Technica ML170 cartridge with a snapped stylus. Does anyone know what replacement possibilities are?
Thanks

As far as I'm aware, the most original AT replacement method nowadays would be to transplant the cantilever assembly of a new ATN150MLX over to the plastic holder of the old ATN-ML170. However, afaik, the diameter of the hole in the ATN-MLs is slightly smaller, so that it has to be drilled out a bit to take the slightly wider cantilever assembly of the ATN150MLX.
AT-ML1x0(/OCC) owners who run ATN-MLs revived that way seem to be very pleased with the quality. Iirc one guy over here, who's a regular over on Analog-Forum(.de), even prefers that needle variant to his remaining original ATN-MLs.

I broke my cantilever off --- twice. VdH put a new boron cant on along with their stylus. Sounded better than ever. Took awhile and cost more than I paid for the cartridge decades ago. But I really like the cart (it mates well with my Morch arm) and for me it was worth it.
You have mentioned one of them! There are several other very good re-tippers that could also do that cartridge justice, but if you are thinking on the lines of off the shelf stylus replacement, well you are about 20 years to late!

was afraid that was the answer, thanks for confirming. I'll stop wasting time looking.
