I was running a Soundsmith re-tipped Dynavector 20X2L on my Scout with JMW 9T when I trashed the cantilever. It's gone back for a re-re-tip, but in the interim I got an Otello for standby. As with the Dynavector I use a 'scope to set SRA and to get a good idea of azimuth before finalizing by ear, with 1.5 VTF and no anti-skate. The Dynavector was smooth and tracked great all the way to the end of an LP side. I believe the Otello is supposed to be more lively, but it's significantly so. It now has about 40 hours on it, and I still have issues with sibilance, increased IGD, and what I would characterize as an overall "crispy" sound. To get to an acceptable SRA the tail of the tonearm is almost all the way down with the cart riding very low. I suspect I could go even further if I could. Anyone have any experience with this cart?

I have a SS Aida on a VPI Scoutmaster and it took a while to get right.
It's extremely sensitive to azimuth. I don't know if your stylus is comparable.
Buy the Counter Intuitive, it will make it much easier.
Totally worth it.
I can almost guarantee that you have the anti-skating Way, way off. Please call me so I can email setup direction on the VPI.

I don't want to state the obvious, but as I'm sure you are aware your Dynavector is a low output MC cartridge and the Otello is a high output MI, based on the old B&O cartridge geometry. Use standard MM settings (47K Ohms at 100pF).
Peter doesn't list recommended SRA geometry for these cartrudges but I would start the VTA alignment with the center line of the armtube completely level and then adjust for the best sound.
Finally, you need to understand that the Soundsmith MM cartridges have a MUCH higher compliance than the Dynavector MCs - 22 or 28 µm/mN vs. 12 µm/mN for the 20X2 cartridge. IMO this means that the SOundsmith MI cartridges are probably not the best compliance match for the JMW tonearms.
Are the capacitance settings and impedance on the phono stage at the same settings as the Dynavector? They wouldn't be the same due to the Dyna being a moving coil.

I have no experience with this cartridge, but I'm wondering what it sounds like if you set the tonearm level with the playing surface. A level cartridge should provide proper VTA/SRA. All my cartridges sound just fine when level with the record playing surface.
When you say you're using a 'scope to set SRA, it begs the question as to what kind of scope -- a microscope or an oscilloscope? There can be a substantial difference in 'scopes. ;-)
On the other hand, since the cartridge doesn't sound very good anyway, I would opt for setting the cartridge level with the record playing surface and concentrate on its null-point alignment using a proper arc protractor. I always recommend Conrad Hoffman's Custom Arc Template Generator for Phono Cartridge Alignment . You can construct a custom arc protractor for your specific tonearm using any alignment null-point arrangement you desire. Of course, I would recommend Loefgren "A" with IEC inner and outer groove radii yielding null-points of 66-mm and 120.9-mm.
Good luck,
John Elison
Should sound fine using a Conrad Hoffman protractor, as John suggested. I have used the Otello, Carmen and Boheme. All 3 were easy to set up and align with no inner groove noise or sibilance.

Try a different alignment.
Print out a Conrad Hoffman custom arc template. You'll need your effective tonearm length.
Running it with a Dynavector P75 mk3. Otello is medium compliance, 100-200 pf version.
