I was analog only...born and raised . Fell for the CD rage , bought into all of the hype . Spent a lot of money trying to get the same sound .
Finally I realized that the digital process has taken the 'life' out of the music ! Oh it has all of the things that we seek in good quality music except...it doesn't have that certain something that makes it come alive ! It can't be explained , it has to be experienced .
I have far less money invested in my analog set up and enjoying it more !
Lest you think that this is an old folks thing... I have two grandchildren who have 'experienced' the difference and also prefer analog !
You opened the 'random rants' door !

I was deeply disappointed in my 1986 digital experience. When my footwork with those 4 cds (in their fragile boxes) led to the understanding that I was going to have to pay at least a grand (1986!) to even pretend to get the kind of musicality that I was getting out of my belt drive Transaudio table and (probably) misaligned midlevel Grado, I pretty much gave up completely. Man, if a cd copy on a $200 player couldn't beat out a scratched and stepped-on lp played on a low end 1975 belt drive, were they even trying?I concluded that part of the problem was that the folks who did the original transfers to digital were transferring so much material across the board that they spent very little time asking if their transfers included all, or any of, the aspects of the recordings that made them great.
Pretty much only used cds for car listening since. And I have enjoyed them a lot for that purpose. (And I never have mastered the art of getting cds out of a double cd case!)

I learned a trick to unhook them at the hinge then separate the front from the back to remove the top label/sticker. Works pretty well to prevent me from cracking the case if I don't break it first when removing the wrapper. But I still sometimes break the hinge and it doesn't help much with breaking the teeth that hold the disc in. What a PITA.
Give me rhythm or give me death!
Wow and flutter makes it sound more like music as it keeps your ear/brain processor titilated. More synapses for your money!
Give me the pitch of a piano in digital any day.
