but just use the old (but gentle) Discwasher between plays. This after several "collapses" and separations of 2-part cantilevers.Peter Edelmann also (IIRC) recommends dry cleaning only

I use a "vintage" Audio Technica AT-637 Ultrasonic Stylus cleaner, followed by a quick dip of the stylus on the surface of a gel pack substrate carrier used to store and transport raw IC substrates. It is a sorbothane-like material with an adhesive that sticks to any dust, dirt, etc. that the AT shakes look.
Got the idea after seeing some of the gel-based stylus cleaners out there. That combo keeps the stylus immaculate!

I find that from time to time, I need to take mine apart and tighten up the internals- the vibration literally rattles everything loose to the point that it just doesn't work (no vibration on the pad)...
