One of my speaker gave up the ghost, while waiting for parts, time to explore some of my mono collection :). strange to hear only one speaker.

A couple of days ago i replaced the mid speaker of my Elipson 1303 on the left side because it had a nasty distortion. Alas the replacement was a slightly different type, the Audax hif13 J instead of H. The H has a bigger magnet.
But at least i have stereo sound without distortion. The speaker is out of production and hard to get. I may have to get the H reconed.
There is nothing wrong with good mono IMHO. Chamber music and jazz combo's can be heard in mono, on 1 box if necessary.

I just installed a mono cartridge, and sometimes I listen through only one speaker (to eliminate a hum issue I disconnect the left channel connections on the cartridge, so unless I use the MONO switch on my phono/pre-amp I only get sound from one speaker). Many of my mono records actually sound quite nice through only one speaker! They also sound nice through both speakers with the MONO switch engaged.
Have fun experimenting.
