Here's the pics I said I would post of my DIY Sowter 1090 MM SUT unit. This actually turned out to be a very nice sounding SUT. It really elevated the sound of my B&O Beogram 8000.
My next SUT will be for my Shelter 901 cartridge using the 9570 step up transformers but this I will have them make it with the OCC wire.

Can you explain a little about how it changed your Table/cartridge sound performance? Pros and cons? Also did you get the OCC wire upgrade?
I'm really interested in that Sowter 9570 SUT would really like to know what you think of it in detail.
What I have noticed with my Sowter 1090 SUT is that it has really made the soundstage larger, wider, and deeper. But what I have noticed most is when on jazz or Fusion type music when solos come in like Piano or Trumpet, it's sounds so real at times. I also notice when I went back to the MC preamp in my Tube preamp it sound different. Still sounds good but different and soundstage wasn't as large, I was really missing the sound with the SUT in there. When I went back to the SUT all that magic came back and i can hear little details more clear and with more seperation than before. So I'm a believer in SUT's in my system.
For reason I wasn't able to add a second pic to the first post, so here is the second pic.

Thank You for the help/info. I should have been more clear. I did that but it just never posted. It said it was submitted and to be patient but just never posted even after 20 min. I tried again an the same thing happened. Well, next time. :)
Note too, that you don't have to accept the default placement of the image(s) nor using the "center" tag.
Preview and move the "img src" metadata where you want and/or remove the centering tag.
I have a Talisman Virtuoso Boron high output moving coil cartridge that has way to low an output (1.8mv) for my DIY tubed phono preamp.
I plan to use a pair of Peerless 15095 transformers that can be wired 1:5 voltage ratio (600:15000 for an impedance ratio of 1:25).
Doing the math that takes everything into account. The cartridge impedance is 105 ohms, my chosen load impedance for the transformer is 22k ohms giving a 880 ohm load for the cartridge. The math shows the output of the cartridge in circuit is 1.6mv. The transformer output should be 8mv.
I think this setup is next in line when I wear out the Monster Cable AG 1000 II I have running into a pair of Jensen JT-34K-DX.

Thank You Tre! That 8mV should really make a world of difference in your system. really open up the soundstage to something scary good!
I can't wait to get going on my SUT for the Shelter 901. That will be very interesting. It will also be used for a second arm wand for the ET-2 that will have a Zu Audio 103R.
Now I'm considering the Sowter 9570 for this new SUT but I just read that the Cinemag Transformers are made by someone that made the transformer for Altec back in the day so I'm looking into those too.
Sorry if I'm just not sufficiently caffeinated right now to understand, but why do you need an MM SUT? I thought MM carts had enough output to send directly to phono sections…
The B&O MMC CL20 has an output of 2.2mV and that is a little too low for my Phono preamp to bring out the best. So the output is now at 5mV perfect for my Tube phono preamp and sounds way better than before.
The Sowter MM SUT is made specifically for MM carts with not enough output. It has a 1:2 ratio.
Gotcha. Learn something new every day. Thanks.
You're Welcome! That's what this forum is all about. Learning and sharing of info to help each other out. :)
