i had the same thoughts and having a vpi with interchangable wands, i bought a very humble grado me+ ($150) for my spare wand. i really like it. much more impact, seems better sorted. better on my monos than my 10x expensive lyra delos. go for it.

Hmmm...Kinda wish you didn't respond with such a positive experience!
I guess I will consider another arm for the Classic but it's on the bottom of the list. I have plenty of 50s-60s Jazz and Classical and a few R&R records I would love to hear as it should be heard.
The regular arm isn't terribly pricey.If I can find a used one for half, that would be even better.
yes, if you can get a standard, it would be well worth having. they are so easy to swap out.
