From the ad -
1$=1
2$=10
3$=20
assuming $3 for 20 then $150 (50*3) for the set of a thousand
but following the pattern
$4=40
$5=80
$6=160
$7=320
$8=640
$9=1280
So for about $10 one gets them all! Splitting the difference I'm betting he'll let the whole collection go for ($10+$150)/2 = $80 (or less to a good home if someone else hauls).
And even if the buyer generates $2000 in resale from the set I'd be willing to wager in the long run he'll make about $2 an hour for his effort.
Give me rhythm or give me death!
Either buy them for your own use, or pass....
Though I like your mathematics! If he wants to quickly and easily divest himself of all of those classical LPs, he should require that they all be sold in one lot. If there are some valuable ones there, as there should be for a good 1000 LP collection in excellent condition that has never been cherry picked, someone would most likely buy them all.
Otherwise, he could easily be left with 800 LPs that he'll have to dispose of himself, and probably about the same money, or less. People just don't want classical LPs. I've been to sales like this.
Allowing that collection to be cherry-picked would be a massive mistake, and render what remained nearly worthless. I would contend, however, that to someone who would actually listen to the collection, it has good value. Buyers will still be a rare breed, however.
