I hope that you didn't shift the cantilever when you were brushing the stylus so it is out of alignment. If that also resulted in a change of SRA then the sound will be bright if it is now too high. Unlikely but I hope that you remove the arm from its rest and clamp when brushing so as to avoid this risk.

Shoot, I actually never knew to brush with the arm loose like that. This might very well be what happened. Everything would sound great and detailed still just with a bit too much treble?
I guess I'll take it to a shop tomorrow and see if they say it's new cartridge time.
If the cartridge doesn't have any obvious damage to the cantilever it will be difficult for the shop to tell if it's out of alignment unless they have another of the same to compare and if they don't check it by installing it in an arm and try setting it up properly.
For now I would try lowering the arm height (in a 9 inch arm a drop of 4mm = 1 degree change in SRA) to see if that reduces the brightness.
Do you have a loupe or other suitable magnifier so you can see that the stylus is clean and OK?
Yes, always brush with the arm loose from the arm rest clamp so that if you exert too much vertical pressure the arm will simply move upwards rather than bending or shifting the cantilever.
