my stereo moved rooms recently. I removed my uni pivot tonearm wand before moving and on putting it back in (there has been a break of a month or so) Now the tonearm statrs skipping, then stops moving inwards, about half way thru play. I am wondering if there are any common reasons for this. I will be contacting the manufacturer, but I though I should try here fist
Thanks in advance
Steve

This kind of fault is nearly always caused by the arm not disengaging properly from the lifting device "pad" when it is lowered. That is it may be free from the lift by a small distance at the start of the disc but if the lifting "pad" isn't exactly horizontal it then fouls the arm further on.
Just check that the arm is free from the lift all the way through.
also double check the tracking force hasn't changed and gotten lower if somehow the counter weight moved.
or check to see if the pin is slightly bent
What arm is it?
Unipivots are so simple - they are either a pin sitting in a well, or an inverted well sitting on top of a pin. You can generally lift the top part off and see everything. Could the tonearm wires be hanging up somewhere? Or maybe some part of the cueing or anti-skate mechanism?
