yes, the B&O Beogram 8000 uses the TOTL MMC20L cartridge which this table came with. I looked at it under a magnifier and the tip looks in great shape and the cantilever is straight. If the needle/cartridge needs repair I can either send it to Soundsmith or send it to Axel in Germany which would be faster.
what ever happened to this table must have happened early after purchase. Was put into storage but they stored it very well.
Most likely it's a bad solder joint/s so I will redo all of them and recap it. this should take of the issue it has.
Some of the guys over on the Beoworld forum know their stuff and are helping with the repair if I need assistance.
Dillen is sending me the recapping kit and new stainless steel tachodisc.
Hopefully with some mod this will be a killer table. I will post once I have it up and running.
Follow Ups:
the original MMC4 cart is over in Germany with Axel right now getting rebuilt with a Shibata tip.
I think they're terrific tables, the TX2 is quiet, no wow or flutter, and it's extremely stable. Our smallest cat can dance on it and it won't skip.

with a mmc2 cart.

They're excellent turntables. Too bad B&O quit making them.

I bought it from an Audio store in Madison from another old (he's 72, I'm 61) guy who specializes in B&O TTs. He upgraded the suspension in mine along with general tech stuff. He has a lot of parts for B&O TTs, etc. I never had the opportunity to spend much time with B&O equipment when I was younger, so I trusted his reccomendation. My wife and I are glad we did, it sounds terrific.

Nt.
due to an unfortunate accident, it fell and broke. It's a shame cause Everything worked great except for the MMC2 cartridge it came with was damaged and just needed the cartridge rebuilt which it's over with Axel now and I'm putting a Shibata tip and aluminum cantilever on it.
Well, I had just order the BG8000 when that accident happened so I can focus on this table now.
I will either keep or sell the MMC2 cartridge when it comes back from Axel since I don't have a table to use it on at the moment.
Thank you for the info.
What's Axel's turnaround time?
And yes, the TX2 is a champ on warped records.

I just sent it out to him on Saturday Nov, 15th. so he should have it by now.
He quoted me anywhere from 3-4 weeks turnaround time depending on work load. Which is a lot faster than Soundsmith at this time. I got a quote from them from 20-50days depending on the season.
I choose Axel due to him being able to put a Shibata tip on the MMC2.
I have a Shibata tip on my AT15Sa and it is a really nice cartridge and with a really quiet background.
I got an email from Axel late last week, might have been Friday, confirming receipt of my MMC4. Won't be long!
Soundsmith...they did a Grace Ruby stylus for me several years ago and my impression is that they overestimate the amount of time they need to make a repair, which I like. I expected a turnaround time of months instead of 4 weeks. It was a pleasant surprise when I got the shipping notification.
I don't think Peter will rebuild an MMC4, it's not cost effective since he sells his own SMMC4 (which is what I use now). I love the voicing of the SMMC4 but not it's bonded elliptical stylus tip. Too much sibilance on some records.
There's an outfit in Roswell GA that also rebuilds Bang carts but all of the MMCs are rebuilt at the MMC4 level.
I have an Ortofon 540MkII in my main deck, the one I use for critical listening. I've seen the stylus referred to as FG70 and Shibata. Traces grooves perfectly, tames even the worst most sibilant records in my collection.

earlier today that Axel received my cartridge and he said he will do his best to rebuild it.
my main cartridge is a Shelter 901. It will be interested in what the MMC2 or even the MMC20L will sound like compared to the Shelter.
Looks like I will be starting the recapping and resoldering on my BG 8000
on Friday. My parts came in today from Martin (Dillen). They were in the mail box and I didn't even know hey were there!
The Tachodisc I have in the turntable now is the original plastic one but it looks like brand new! The tachodisc was with the recap kit too.
