Does anyone know a good source for belts? I am building a turntable with an outboard motor seperate from the plinth and platter. The belt will run around the outside of the platter and directly to the motor. The platter is aluminum and I will have to make the pillar drive out of yet to be determined. Probably brass.
I need a few choices as it will be experimental.
Thanks
I haven't been around because of work work and more work along with raising teenagers but recently broke my leg so I am out of work. I fixed three units already. My DIY tube amp I have been playing with for years is heading to the shop for finish work before assembly so being out of work sucks...kinda....

Their stock is classified according to commercial TT whose belt a customer needs to replace, rather than just by circumference. The size you need will of course depend on where you place the motor pulley relative to the platter edge. If fairly close, you could start with a belt made for one of the AR turntables, for example. Elex is pretty expensive but they make the belts to order. KAB may depend on having NOS.

I want (I think! :-)) ) what Henry wants ... a mfr of belts - not materials to DIY.
In my case, I am looking for:
* 'O-ring' type belts made of silicone (not nitrile) - say 1/8" diameter material, but
* the diameter of an LP12 belt.
The mfrs of round-section TT belts that I have found ... make them too short. :-((

Belts are available
Thanks very much for the link, WM2 - very helpful, as I have been searching for round belts.
I emailed McMaster-Carr early this morning ... and promptly received the following reply (prompt was nice but does it seem illogical to you, too? :-)) ):
------------
Hi Andrew,
Thank you for considering McMaster-Carr for your purchase of round belts, but we decline to bid.
Due to the complexity of US export regulations, McMaster-Carr accepts international purchases only from our established international customers.

I half expected to get a reply saying they didn't want to deal internationally ... and sure enough, I did! (Even in 2014, there are pockets of the USofA which pay no attention to the rest of the world - and don't seem to realise that USPost does a great job of shipping internationally! :-)) )
No problem, of course - I simply get my good mate in Pennsylvania to place the order for me. :-))
