I am looking into getting a 12 inch arm for my Lenco L75 and was researching relatively affordable arms. I discovered that Jelco actually makes the Ortofon TA-210.
Is there a huge performance difference between the Jelco SA-750L and the Ortofon TA-210?
I was planning on using a wood bodied Denon 103r unless there is a better sub $800 alternative for a heavy arm.
Thanks.

It seems to be very good case of the Emperor's new clothes.
The Jelco has good bearings, and is ideal for someone looking for a tonearm with a universal headshell
Several companies have sold tonearns based on the Jelco platform: Graham, Koetsu, Grado, Sumiko, AudioQuest etc. In some cases the upgrade was significant: the AudioQuest PT9 and the Graham Robin were a substantial re-design and the Grado reference was hardly recognizable as a Jelco.
But in other cases: Koetsu, Ortofon, I always wondered who would pay the high prices for what is essentially a re-branded arm.
I would think that spending the extra money on upgrading the headshell, counterweight, wiring, mounting base etc would be a better path.
By the way, the heavier counterweight option for this tonearm is preferable to the standard if you going to mount a cartridge of ~ 8g or higher.

Yes Jelco produces the Ortofon tonearms and they are produced to Ortofon specs. Jelco also produces the Graham tonearms and several other highly regarded audio companies. People who have compared Jelco to the Ortofon tonearms prefer the Ortofon. The Ortofon tonearm sounds better because they are better made
And yes I sell Ortofon. Rgds Jan
I'm curious. In what way(s) does it sound better?

In every way. I'm a dealer too. If you call Ortofon USA, ask to speak to Louis and he can provide you a detailed comparison and description. My experience on my Luxman PD-444 is that the Ortofon offers a more transparent experience, greater dynamics and provides a synergy with Ortofon Cadenza & the Royal N carts that is outstanding. On the other hand, the 3D arm from VPI is the one that's going to be occupying the 12" slot on that table in 2015.

Personally, I would go for the Jelco SA-750L. ;-)
If you are willing to spend the kind of money it requires for the Ortofon TA-210, you might consider the SME 312. In my opinion the SME 312 would be a much better tonearm.
Good luck,
