Fremer once again answers another of my questions...
"The brothers Chesky reissued this record in the late 1980's using the original three track master tape and a rebuilt Ampex 300, with the three tracks mixed "live" to two tracks and fed directly to the cutting lathe. The plating was done, I believe, at Europadisc in New York, which also pressed it on 150 gram Teldec Virgin Vinyl.
At the time RCA was covetous of its artwork and logo so Chesky was unable to use the original cover art, the "Living Stereo" logo or the Nipper "shaded dog". "
So, it looks like that answers that!!!

in comparison to the original pressing and the more recent re-issues. I have a couple originals and a re-issue (Classic Records?).
Well, I haven't heard an original Living Stereo or any of the Classic reissues to compare, but I do like the Chesky- it has a very big, bold sound, at least to my ears. It was a gift from my Mentor when I started Electronic Engineering during my "Return To College" phase.
Long story made (very) short-
I brought over my Telarc CD (Sir Charles Mackerras/London Symphony) to his house, just to hear it on his big system. He took a look at it, and without even taking it from my hand, said, "Well, that should be fine, but here's the one you REALLY want.", and handed me an unopened Chesky! Evidently, he had a FEW copies lying around (Chesky, Classic reissue, etc) as he was supposed to write up a comparison review for some mag whose name I have since forgetten!
Nice gift, I must say!
