Recently unboxed my old Beogram TX2, purchased for $100 from Inmate Soundnut about five years ago.
Not only does it sound a hell of a lot better than I remembered from the last time I used it, I'm loving the automatic functions.
It's nearly cat-proof, too. Our little cat Squee can walk on it, jump on it, dance on it, jump from it to the nearby scratching post, and it won't skip.

I'm not a cat fan, but I would suggest you move your scratching post.
I trashed an Eroica L back in 1990, my first MC, but replaced it with a DV17D2 which along with subsequent Mk2 and D3 replacements proved remarkably robust having gone flying towards the spindle on several occasions, bouncing off the record on the way, and escaped intact. A bit pricier than a DL103 though and you have to keep your records clean.
I haven't trashed a stylus since the 1970's. Came close a few times though.
