The great rock bassist and music legend passed on. My condolences to his family. I think I'll pull out some Cream in his honor!

I'm ashamed to write i have only 1 CD of Jack's solo work after Cream. (Somethin'Else) No vinyl. It just didn't sell so i never found it in the flea/thrift circuit. I can imagine his frustration about this lack of commercial success. A damn good songwriter, bass player and the best singer among the bass players.
"The torture never stops"Greetings Freek.
Best singer among bass players? Really? Better than Paul McCartney? Better than Sting? Not, IMHO.

Very sad news. I always thought he truly flourished after Cream broke up. His album "Songs for a Tailor" is, in my opinion, one of the most undeservedly under-appreciated albums of its era. Give it a listen if you're able to. I often think of it in the same category as George's "All Things Must Pass" in that it revealed the deeper talent that was only hinted at in the artists work as part of a group. Rest in peace, Jack.

Agree 101% that it seems a vastly under-appreciated LP.
Funny the comparison with GH, who plays on "Never Tell Your Mother She's Out of Tune"!
This song will always haunt me in a good way.

Lucky for us fans of Cream that there was that reunion concert in 2005 at Royal Albert Hall. Baker, Bruce and Clapton together playing their old material for the fans. The DVD of the performance shows all three in good form.It is good they were able to get together for that. I checked on Baker, he's 75. Crazy man that he is.
rip Jack Bruce. What he did in his life mattered to lots of folks.

Ps: edits
"Beware of Mr. Baker". Out on video. For those who did not (myself included) follow the individual careers of the band members after Cream split up, Ginger Baker's career is detailed in the video. It seems he has developed a very negative resume for himself over his lifetime. Whacko

Saw one of the shows in NYC. At that point, Bruce and Baker were shooting daggers at each other - could even see it up in the nosebleed seats. Clapton just kind of kept to himself. Knew right then that the rumored tour was not going to happen (at least not without acts of violence or death). If you haven't seen it, I recommend the movie "Beware of Mr. Baker." Seriously angry and bitter man.

I guess I'd have to take a longer look at the 2005 DVD of the concert in UK for evidence of "eye daggers" in that one.
I did see the video "Beware of Mr. Baker". Illuminating. Now we see why Baker's career fizzled. Although I understand He's still active. (somewhere driving folks around him crazy....no doubt)

RIP
Few played the fretless bass as well as Jack.
It's a sad reminder how quickly life passes us by when the legends of our youth are dropping like flies. RIP.
The next decade or so is going to be full of them, I'm afraid.
the circle of life is inescapable.
That said, who ever thought Ginger Baker would roam this mortal coil longer than JB?

Sad news.
Great record.
This is really sad. I'm so sorry to hear this. Rest in peace, Jack.
