I believe the paper s more to keep dust and particulate from entering the coins and magnetic field. The washi is extremely porous to avoid any EMI interaction

Should point out Benz cartridges use no such paper at all in their offerings and there seems little issue with dust.
I have a Dynavector XX-2 which is open as well, probably won't be an issue.
