Do I put on a trenchcoat, go down to the docks on a foggy night, and ask for Rick?
I have MoFi LP #9, not sure why. Maybe I appreciate humorous names. The stylus itself looks beautifully clean and gleaming. But the tall, hexagonal pole/pedestal it is mounted on gets threads wrapped around it, not necessarily visible to the naked eye. The MoFi stylus brush works fine, but obviously some stuff is too strong for it.
If you have something that actually dissolves that stuff, sounds like it's too strong for me to fool with.

Lots of cleaners used things like trichloroethane which are now subject to the Montreal protocol on ozone depleting substances.

I thought there was something in it that the EPA no longer allows. I might be wrong! I used to inspect styli under the microscope for customers. Often, they were so dust clogged, you couldn't even see them. One swipe of the AT fluid and they will be crystal clean. AT still sells a fluid. I could be the same.

A lot of older cleaners used stabilized freon which.was.effectively banned by very high taxes on its use. Great.solvent though.
Not the healthiest stuff in the world either!
