About 1'12" into the film. I'd like to think he was mistaken but this must be the cheap way to join the revival. It would be a shame if it helped vinyl's second demise - but who knows?I'm glad they're still doing it but maybe the can consider joining with others for the recreation of more analogue mastering and delivery workflows?
PS. One of the music tracks from Tiny Ruins is up for a Silver Scroll award. Lovely piece ('Me at the Museum, You in the Wintergardens'), based on an Auckland setting.

They definitely seem to be pragmatic about the whole thing. We take CD's and make records from them and who knows how long this vinyl thing will last anyway...
This is the side of the resurgence I don't really like to see but it's a big part of it. It would have been nice to have seen them mention doing something with some hi-fi cred, but maybe they only do what the video showed.
I wonder though if he regrets that statement?--hell if he can still get the $$'s before his plant goesto the knackers yard--fair enough I suppose --his clientele from the pressings he showed would
not be on the Audiophile stage anyway I'd say.
But how many reissues/releases are taken from the Digital files--more than they care to let on--I feel the powers that be
see the "vinyl resurgence" as a chance to get the quick buck before it fades to black. I've bought
heavy vinyl /"super Lps/etc that are no better than the CD versions of the same Album
An example Raising Sand, Great Artists and songs--the CD is production is poor ,flat and muffled with a whitish haze in the
Background( false tape hiss?)--the 180GM LP is frankly a steaming POS and worse sounding!
It's definitely Caveat Emptor with some of the "new" Vinyl.
Thanks for posting the Clip--ah yes the dear Museum and Wintergarden!--as Valerie Carter sang "Only a Stones throw Away"-ha!

He mentions Florida as one of the places where vinyl pressing machines were last delivered. I can only imagine it's from the Latin music industry that is based here. Miami is second only to New York for the title of "Salsa Land" or whatever.
Hmmmmm perhaps I should go looking for some 80's vintage pressing machines in Hialeah warehouses? LOL.
To be fair, I think the cobweb photos were illustrating the state in which they find the machines before putting them to work. Seems to me that might have been a spare sitting off to the side rather than a working piece of equipment.
As far as mastering, I think he said "CD" so Joe Six Pack... or rather, "Bruce" would understand where they get the music file. Most likely it's the lossless file (whichever they use these days I don't know) that's put into lathe via Pro Tools. I think that was Avid Pro Tools I saw there, but it's been a while so I don't know for sure.
Also...show me the top 40 artist that's recording onto anything but lossless. It's probable that 90% of the new vinyl you're getting is digitized at one point or another. I would bet that most of the time it's right when it's being recorded.
